Tears of Magdalena is gothic metal par excellence. Their folk influences are unfortunately scant, but used to great effect, while keyboard sections provide a rich classical orchestration, mainly through impressionistic piano melodies. The orchestral arrangements evoke a world of fantasy, being colorful but never overbearing, and they are used with taste, balancing with metal instruments and harsh vocals extremely well.
