While the “Seal of Solomon” typically refers to a different symbol from the Western esoteric tradition, the name was also given to various Icelandic magical staves during the 17th century, as the influence of European occultism spread to Iceland. This magical stave is thought to have been used for gaining wisdom and inducing dreams, although its original manuscript reference only states: “This one is carried for protection.”
